Helping Local Businesses Get Started

Two new local businesses, two very different builds, both designed from a blank page. Each site is fast, each one is owned outright by the business running it, and neither pays a monthly fee to stay online.

Rubber Stone Paving Pros

What they do

A resurfacing company covering Calgary and Southern Alberta, applying Rubber Stone, Sierra Stone and Vuba Stone over driveways, patios, garages and walkways. They needed a site that ranked locally, explained three products most homeowners have never heard of, and turned a scroll into a booked quote.

Providing simple solutions

Their promos changed every season

This business runs limited-time offers — spring driveway specials, end-of-season pricing, a discount tied to a home show.

So I built them an admin page. The owner signs in, uploads the poster, and picks a start and end date if they want one — no developer, no waiting, no code.

The site handles the rest. On load it asks the campaign API what's currently active. If a poster is live, the promo section renders itself. If nothing is scheduled, or the expiry date has passed, the section hides, so visitors never see an empty box or a stale offer. An entire season can be scheduled in advance and left alone.

What visitors see — the active campaign, rendered on the site.

That's the part I care about most: a site that's fast and easy to use for the owner and the visitor alike, and that can run itself without a developer on retainer. The owner gets to focus on their work while the site does the rest.

Bent Metal Exteriors

What they do

A local business specializing in exteriors, installing eavestrough, soffit, fascia and leaf guard around Calgary. Homeowners searching for this are usually already dealing with a problem — ice damming, an overflowing gutter, a wind-torn fascia board. The site had to answer them quickly and make the estimate easy to ask for.

This one didn't need a content system behind it. What it needed was a clear static site and a contact form that reaches the owner, so that's what it got — and it has done the job since launch. Scope matches the problem; nothing more gets built than the business actually has to maintain.
